The following is quoted from the book From You to Me, by Dewey H. Wolstein.  The foreword records the information about this distinguished member of Cherokee Lodge No. 66, F. & A. M.

Matthew Arnold wrote "Poetry is simply the most beautiful, impressive and widely effective mode of saying things, and hence its importance."

The following are quotes from the book From You to Me, by Dewey H. Woolstein. The volume of the book was a gift from the webmaster's Mother to his Father, August 16, 1973.  The book consists of many of the poems written by Dewey H. Woolstein.  There are numerous illustrations by Robert Redden, a distinguished local artist and member of Cherokee Lodge.

Hold Fast

Hold fast to those eternal truths

Which for ages have guided man

In lives of service and contentment,

Truths which form his Holy Plan.

Hold fast to those great ideals

Which ennoble heart and mind,

Falter not when the goal is dim,

Or when the way is hard to find.

Hold fast to all hopes and dreams,

When love shall victor be

Over violence, strife and hate,

AND BROTHERHOOD A SWEET REALITY.

That Precious Gift

The most precious gift of life

Is a true and trusted friend,

One who knows our good or bad,

And remains steadfast to the end.

Life's burdens are made lighter

By friendships strong and true,

And joys are more joyous,

When friends are glad with you.

So when we count our blessings,

Above all there must stand,

The precious gift of friendship,

The clasp of a brother's hand.
